Kodwa ponders legal action over DA flag-burning ad

The Department of Arts and Culture is considering legal action against the DA in the wake of its latest election advert.
The ad, released on Sunday, portrays the burning of the South African flag.
In the advert, a voiceover can be heard warning of South Africa's demise under an ANC and EFF coalition.
The advert has seen the DA come under fire from some quarters, with President Cyril Ramaphosa joining the chorus of disapproval on Tuesday.
Arts and Culture spokesperson Litha Mpondwana says the department is considering its options.
"The minister has instructed the acting director-general, advisors and the legal unit of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture to urgently advise him on the recourse the government can take when national symbols are denigrated and desecrated.
"The minister says the desecration of national symbols should not be part of election campaigning and should not be tolerated in any instance.
"We are taking steps to ensure that there are consequences for such actions. It is our duty to ensure the protection of our national symbols, which are a product of our hard-earned democracy," said Mpondwana.
