Kouga Municipality to implement water shedding from next week
Updated | By Algoa FM News
The Kouga Municipality will implement water shedding from Monday next week as the Churchill dam has now reached critical levels.
Kouga Executive Mayor Horatio Hendricks says they have tried their best to avoid these measures but the situation is critical and can no longer be avoided.
He says water to Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp and the Greater St Francis Area will be switched off from 10 am - 4 pm every day of the week.
The level of the Churchill Dam has plunged to below 10% and is the main water source for households and businesses in the area.
On Thursday the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality announced the decommissioning of the barge pump station at the Impofu dam.
It says the Impofu dam levels are so low that the pumps are at risk of sucking up sediment as the pumps are close to the bottom of the dam basin.
Day Zero is fast approaching.
