Two Cape Town schools have made it to the finals of the World’s Best School Prizes.
Pinelands North Primary School and West End Primary School have been nominated in the top 10 for a World's Best School award in the "overcoming adversity" category.
The two schools are set to compete with eight other schools from Australia, Malaysia, India, Uganda, Brazil, Jamaica, Kenya and Nigeria.
Western Cape Premier Alan Winde says the schools are setting a benchmark.
"This is a proud day for our province and our country. To have two of our province’s schools shortlisted among the top 10 schools in the world in the category of ‘overcoming adversity’ is a massive achievement – setting a benchmark not only for our province but indeed the world over. "
The winners of the global competition will be announced in October.
The winning school will receive R3.8 million.
