The matter will resume in the Port Shepstone Magistrate's Court on March 19.

The postponement was due to the unavailability of an expert State witness, KwaZulu-Natal National Prosecuting Authority spokeswoman Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said in a statement.

"All parties involved in this matter, including the family of the deceased, were duly notified of the postponement and did not pose any objection," she said.

Njabulo Nyawose allegedly knocked down Stander, 25, while he was cycling in Shelley Beach, on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast, on January 3 last year.

Stander was fifth in the men's cross-country cycling race at the 2012 London Olympics. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing he finished 15th in the cross-country event.
