Lesufi blames ‘interference' for delay in high school rape probe
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi believes interference from the family of an accused is to blame for the delay in a rape case at Thuto Lesedi Secondary School in Vosloorus.
It's alleged that a Grade 9 pupil was dragged and assulted by two matric pupils before she was raped in the school's toilets.

Lesufi visited the Ekurhuleni school on Tuesday where he met with the school’s governing body and RCL.
He says the family raised concerns that the police may have also interfered with the case being enrolled in court.
Lesufi says the department's psycho-social team has been roped in to attend to the queries raised by the family.
"We really believe that we can ask the provincial commissioner there is a very good team that we've worked with before, to assist the family unit to step in and take over the case. We will check with the NPA whether if it's proper to take another statement that is clearer.”
