Lesufi to visit violence-hit Norkem Park High

Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi will this morning visit Norkem High School in Kempton Park after video footage of fights between learners emerged on social media.
The videos clearly depict school learners engaged in physical altercations.
The department's spokesperson Steve Mabona says there are reports that the violence has spread to family members.

"We were informed that family members come to the school to partake in the fights with guns. We were told that some learners were stabbed."
Mabona says the MEC wants to determine the cause of the problems at the school.
"We are preparing for pre-trial exams now and we don't need any disruption and we are going there to check what is happening so we can have a way forward."
