Lesufi vows to restore discipline at Norkem Park
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says decisive intervention is required to solve the issues bedeviling Norkem Park High School in Kempton Park.
Lesufi met with parents at the school following recent incidents of violence involving learners and teachers at the school.
Two boys were expelled and ten girls suspended after the recent violence at the school.
"And I said to the SGB (School Governing Body) even if we can smell there is a problem, (even though) we don't have evidence we will be on you, just by mere smelling."
Lesufi says he will provide funds to develop the school, but only when the situation returns to normal.
"So I am putting resources here, I am rehabilitating this thing, the grounds that are falling apart. We will have a nice place where our children can study where. But we must get the discipline right first. Because if you don't get that right first, the investment will not be appreciated.
"We have to turn the school around. Our children must the proud to wear a blazer that is written 'Norkem Park'. Our children must not be ashamed, or you as a parent be ashamed when you are asked where you child is"
