Limpopo premier lauds taxi associations for its stance against violence, looting

Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha has applauded residents and local taxi associations for standing firm against any possible looting and violence in the province.
There were fears that the ongoing riots and looting in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng could spread to other provinces across the country.
"Joining the peace-loving South Africans, the provincial taxi associations in one voice said that they condemn the violence taking place unreservedly,” Mathabatha said a media briefing on Tuesday.
"They will never participate in the destruction of property, looting of shops and blockading of roads.
"Our brothers and sisters in the taxi industry called upon all people of Limpopo to remain calm during this time of volatile situation and assured them of their safety at all times."
Social media users trended with 'In Limpopo we refuse to join the looting' messaging in standing against looting in the province.
"On the very same wavelength, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the social media users in this province who in one voice publicly declared their condemnation to the public violence taking place in our country," adds Mathabatha.
