Limpopo student’s ‘ex-boyfriend’ to face rape, attempted murder charges

A second suspect, whom police believe to be the ex-boyfriend of a Limpopo TVET college student, has handed himself over to police.
He is facing charges of attempted murder, rape and kidnapping.
The 21-year-old student was kidnapped from her rented room in Thohoyandou by two men on Sunday.
She was subsequently forced into the boot of a car, assualted and raped at Ha-Maphaila village.
The student is recovering in hospital.

Police spokesperson Motlalefa Mojapelo says the second suspect appeared in the Dzanani Magistrates Court o Wednesday alongside his co-accused.
Both are facing charges of kidnapping and attempted murder.
The suspected ex-boyfriend will face an additional charge of rape. The matter has been postponed to Monday.
