Limpopo woman, family to appear in court for murder, kidnapping

A 42-year-old-woman, her 23 year-old son and two cousins were arrested on charges of murder and kidnapping on Saturday.
The group is accused of killing a suspected livestock thief on a farm near Elandskraal in Sekhukhune.
Limpopo police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the victim, Funky Hlongwane, and a local teacher were allegedly kidnapped by the four suspects who accused them of stealing the mother's goats.
“The duo was taken to a farm and tied with a long robe and severely assaulted with a several weapons including a hammer.
“The teacher was released afterwards while the suspects continued assaulting Funky Hlongwane. The teacher managed to report the incident to the police.”
Ledwaba says Hlongwane succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
“Police immediately rushed to the premises and upon arrival found a 35 year-old victim laying down with serious injuries and unable to talk.
“The members of the Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.”
The group is expected to make their first appearance in the Groblersdal Magistrate's Court on Monday.
