LISTEN: Patel's brother hopes for bail

Patel is accused of shooting his wife Fatima in their home last month.

 

Patel's brother, Razeen, says he hopes his brother will come home because his absence is affecting his family and most importantly his children. 

"I just hope my brother is back as soon as possible. If not for my satisfaction then for the kids'", he says.

 

Patel and his wife Fatima have three children aged eight years, five years and six months old.
 

Razeen says the children are now his responsibility, but the whole family and certain community members are assisting in taking care of them. 

"I am looking after the kids for him. I have to play the role of mommy and daddy at the moment. I take his kids as my kids" he says. 

Patel's wife Fatima was found in a pool of blood in their home in what appeared to be a burglary on April 10. 

Patel has denied any involvement in his wife's murder.
