Connie Ferguson penned an emotional tribute for her late husband, who passed away last Friday at Netcare Milpark Hospital from Covid-19 related complication.

Shona Ferguson, who was a media mogul, executive producer, actor and co-founder of Ferguson Films, was laid to rest on Wednesday in Fourways.

“I never, never anticipated where we are today, God brought you in my life 20 years ago and I anticipated another 20 years with you. I really thought you and I are going to grow old together,” Connie told mourners.

“I missed you for 28 days. I have never known anyone as strong as you Shona, how you fought, I want you to know that I am so proud of you. I am hurting right now my heart is bleeding. I wasn't ready for you to go, the girls where not ready for you to go.

“When you became sick, we prayed so much for your healing  I can't imagine my life without you Shona. The past couple of days have been almost like a dream really, I still feel like I am dreaming sometimes and I'd wake up and none of this would be real.”

Ferguson says Shona taught people how to love like a family.

“I may only have had 20 years with you Shona but what we had most people never get to experience in their lifetime. You had the God kind of love. Although I am confused right now, I have to trust that God sees my pain

Even though your race on earth may have come to an end, know that you ran a good race you fought a good fight.I have to find it in me to continue until I am ready to join you, so this is not goodbye my love because love that you and I have doesn't die, it will continue in our hearts.”
