Lynne Brown gives Eskom another deadline
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown has given Eskom another deadline to explain, among other thing, the power utility's business dealings with Gupta-linked company Trillian Capital Holdings.
Her department issued a statement on Friday night, saying the minister is disappointed in Eskom's "inappropriate and tardy" response to questions she previously sent to the board.
Brown previously gave the power utility a deadline to explain its relationship with Trillain, an ultimatum she later extended.
The report, which was not signed-off by Eskom's Chairperson "contained glaring gaps".
It recently emerged that information regarding Eskom's dealings with Trillian, provided to Brown by Eskom for answering questions in Parliemant, was inaccurate.
Brown now wants a full briefing this coming Tuesday on Trillian as well as an update on the investigation and disciplinary processes against former CEO Matjela Koko and CFO Anoj Singh.
The minister believes the information provided by Eskom would help her "determine the scope and nature of the decisive action required to restore Eskom's credibility".
