Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
Deputy President David Mabuza says all monies owed to Eskom by provincial and national departments must be paid.
Mabuza answered questions in the National Assembly on Thursday where he was quizzed on Eskom’s operational sustainability and the coronavirus pandemic.

He said the biggest issue at power utility Eskom remains non-payment.
“All the monies that are owed by national departments must be calculated, all monies owed by provincial departments must be calculated and be verified whether they are correct and from there they must be paid.
“The difficulty which we are discussing is the culture of non-payment from our communities, this is a culture that started long ago when all of us were still struggling for our freedom.”
Eskom currently has a debt burden of around R450 million.
