Maile appoints Deloitte to probe municipal tenders
Gauteng Cooperative Governance MEC Lebogang Maile has appointed Deloitte Consulting to investigate the top 10 contracts entered into by the various municipalities in the province.
Maile briefed the media in Sandon on Thursday morning.
The MEC told the media the appointment of Deloitte Consulting comes after several meeting with the various mayors in Gauteng.
The issue of irregular contracts kept rearing its head.
"A collective decision was then taken that a review of the top ten contracts for municipalities must be conducted by the department to determine whether there were any irregularities in the awarding of contracts, whether there is proper contract management, and whether investigations should be conducted if any irregularity might be detected," said Maile.
The investigation is set to be conducted in the City of Tshwane, West Rand District, Merafong City and Emfuleni.
