Malema lawyer released on bail
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Prominent Polokwane lawyer Tumi Mokwena has been released on bail in the Thabamoopo Magistrate's Court.
He is charged with four counts of attempted murder after he allegedly shot and wounded four people at the Zebediela citrus estate last week.
Mokwena was arrested at his Polokwane offices.
In his affidavit read out in court, Mokwena says he and some clients were approached by a crowd after a meeting on the estate.
Mokwena says the crowd told one of his clients that they wanted to kill him before forcing their way into the office he was in.
That's when he took out his firearm and shot at the crowd.
He says he then ran to his car where he shot at another worker who was trying to stop him.
The state did not oppose bail.
Meanwhile, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema attended the bail hearing.
Mokwena has in the past represented Malema in court.
