Malema pleads not guilty to discharging firearm at EFF party

EFF leader Julius Malema has pleaded not guilty to five charges related to the discharging of a firearm at the party's fifth anniversary celebrations in East London.

He is charged alongside security company director Adriaan Snyman.
Snyman is facing a charge of Contravening the Firearms Control Act.
The EFF leader, through his legal counsel, Advocate Laurence Hodus, did not offer any plea explanation.
I have placed all the appearances on his behalf on record. I confirm that his plea accords with my instructions by means of a plea explanation and the explanation of the not guilty plea.
"The accused number one exercises his constitutional rights to remain silent. It puts the State to the proof of the allegations against him and his version will be put to the relevant witnesses of necessary in cross-examination."
Snyman, also pleaded not guilty to the one charge against him.
