Man in Free State court for allegedly murdering his friend
Updated | By ANA
A man is expected to appear in the Zastron Magistrate’s Court on Monday for the murder of his 20-year-old friend, Free State police said.
Sergeant Yanga Ngcukana said the man was involved in a quarrel with his friends on Friday, when he was stabbed in Refeng Khotso, Zastron, a small agricultural town about 30km from the border of Lesotho.
At around 10.50pm he was in his shack when it was hit by stones that were thrown by people outside. When the man went outside he was met by a group of his enraged friends.
A fight ensued and the accused allegedly took out a knife and fatally wounded the victim, Ngcukana said.
When police arrived on the scene, the body was lying in the road with one stab wound to the chest. He was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
“The knife was confiscated and the suspect was arrested immediately and charged for murder,” Ngcukana said.
The accused is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday.
