A man, believed to be in his 20s, was killed this morning after an apparent shootout at a retail centre in Edenvale, Johannesburg.
ER24 says paramedics arrived on the scene and found a light motor vehicle in the parking area surrounded by a heavy police presence.
"On inspection, paramedics found the man lying next to his vehicle. Assessment showed that the man had sustained a gunshot wound to his head and his abdomen and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene," ER24 said in a statement.
It is believed that there was a shootout between the police and an unknown number of gunmen.
"The exact details surrounding the shooting is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations," ER24 said.
