The two were sworn in on Wednesday despite social media criticisms that they ascended to party positions without doing work on the ground.

Manyi joined the EFF just a month ago after resigning from ATM - the party he joined in 2019 ahead of the national elections, after leaving the ANC.

Mthethwa joined the EFF in 2022, also coming from the ANC.

The two were joined by Nqobile Mhlongo and Mandla Shikwambana who served in the party's national leadership, including the Central Command Team.

Shikwambana's political credentials in the EFF include leading the  Student Command (EFFSC) after he was elected at the  3rd National Students Assembly in 2019.

He also assumed various leadership roles including secretary of the Branch Students Command Team at the University of Venda, Student Representatives Council (SRC) President, and Provincial Chairperson of the EFFSC in Limpopo Province.

Mhlongo was also involved in the party's lower structures before ascending to the CCT earlier this year.

Amongst other roles, she was the convener of the EFF Branch at the University of Pretoria in 2013, PR Councillor in the City of Tshwane Municipal Council from 2016 to 2017, and again from 2021 until her nomination to serve in the National Assembly.
