March against load shedding in Tshwane
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
The Tshwane metro police have warned motorists of possible disruptions to traffic due to a march by Democracy in Action on Wednesday.
The organisation is expected to submit a memorandum of demands at the Union Buildings on the ongoing load-shedding crisis.
South Africans have again been subjected to stage 2 load-shedding this week, with Eskom warning that the rolling blackouts will persist throughout the winter.
Metro police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says the protestors will gather at an open space in Madiba Street and Kgosi Mampuru Street.
Affected roads include Kgosi Mampuru Street, Sophie De Bruyn Street, Bosman Street, Paul Kruger Street, Thabo Sehume Street, Lilian Ngoyi Street, Sisulu Street, Du Toit Street, Nelson Mandela Street, Steve Biko Street, Hamilton Street and Government Avenue.
The marchers are expected to disperse at 12:30.
“Motorists are advised to avoid affected streets and use alternative routes such as Boom Street, Struben Street, Stanza Bopape Street, Francis Baard Street and Nana Sita Street,” says Mahamba.
