Masina to be disciplined for Ekurhuleni no-confidence chaos
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The ANC’s chairperson in Ekurhuleni Mzwandile Masina is set to face disciplinary action from the party’s provincial structure.
The announcement was made by Gauteng secretary TK Nciza at a media briefing at the Ruth First House in Johannesburg on Thursday afternoon.
“The PEC has taken a firm decision that action must be taken against the chairperson of the region of Ekurhuleni that has brought the ANC into disrepute,” he told the media.
“The provincial working committee has been mandated to deal with the matter urgently. On the 15 November 2022, the provincial committee will visit all structures of the ANC in Ekurhuleni and its caucus.”
Masina is in hot water for defying an instruction from the provincial executive committee to withdraw a motion of no confidence against Mayor Tania Campbell.

Gauteng chairperson Panyaza Lesufi said Nciza has since been tasked with convening a
provincial working committee to attend to the Masina matter.
“As soon as we’ve concluded it we’ll make a public pronouncement but obviously the chairperson has the right also to be notified and made aware of all these things. We don’t want to do it on this platform. It may harm the case or the process.”
