Mbalula warns criminals hiding behind Eldorado Park protest
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Police minister Fikile Mbalula says those still protesting in Eldorado Park, south of Johannesburg, are mostly criminals.
Mbalula addressed the media following an unannounced visit to the South African Police Service (SAPS) Call Centre in Randjiesfontein, Midrand amid ongoing violent protests in Eldorado Park.
"What's happening in Eldorado Park has nothing to do with the genuine concerns of the community anymore. It's drug dealers who are now hard at work and doing everything to undermine law enforcement," Mbalula says.
Residents clashed with police again today, the second day in a row, during protests over a housing shortage.
Mbalula warns those involved in criminal activities that they will be apprehended.
"We are coming for them in Eldorado Park. Those who are hiding behind the protest to do all sorts of criminal activities, we are mounting, we are coming for them. We will not undermine genuine concerns."
