Manana was charged with assault with intent to cause grevious bodily harm after an incident at a Fourways restuarant last month.

Manana lost his temper after an argument on who should succeed President Jacob Zuma at the party's elective conference in December.

What allegedly triggered him to attack the women was a comment from one of the women who called him gay.

Mandisa Duma, one of the three women who Manana assaulted opened a case of assault at the Douglasdale police station on the 6th of August.

The other two women who were with Duma on the day of the incident also opened charges against Manana.

During his first court appearance Manana was granted R5000 bail.

The former deputy minister of higher education and training appeared briefly at the Randburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Magistrate Ramsamy Reddy postponed the matter to the 7th of November for sentencing.

Meanwhile Gauteng Police's Kay Makhubele has confirmed that two more suspects in connection with the assault have been arrested and will be appearing in court in the next 48 hours.

The suspects were pointed out by one of the women who were assaulted.
