MEC to inspect psychiatric facilities

Gauteng's psychiatric hospitals will be inspected to ensure they  are providing proper and adequate treatment, the health department said on Wednesday.

   

Health MEC Hope Papo would visit Tara Psychiatric Hospital in Hurlingham, Sandton on Wednesday, a statement said.

   

"In an effort to ensure delivery of quality healthcare in the province, MEC Papo will... meet managers as well as tour different sections of the [hospital]," the statement said.

   

Sterkfontein, Weskoppies, and Cullinan hospitals would also be visited soon.

   

Community leaders would have a chance to share the concerns of the people in various wards and also their suggestions to improve healthcare in the region.
