Meyiwa trial-within-a-trial postponed to Wednesday

Closing arguments in the Senzo Meyiwa trial-within-a trial case has been postponed to Wednesday in the High Court in Pretoria.
The latest postponement in the high-profile murder case is to allow advocate Thulani Mngomezulu to consult with witnesses and prepare heads of argument.
Five men - Bongani Ntanzi, Muzi Sibiya, Mthobisi Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Ntuli - are standing trial for the 2014 murder of the former Bafana Bafana captain.
The trial-within-a-trial will rule on the admissibility of confession statements allegedly made by accused one and two.
The two accused, Muzi Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi, claim they were assaulted and tortured into signing confession statements.
Sibiya fired his attorney on Monday and hired advocate Mngomezulu to represent him going forward.
"Because of those reasons, this court will bend backwards, so this case has been postponed to Wednesday," said Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng.
"That is enough time for Mngomezulu to consult with his witnesses and prepare the heads of arguments.”
