Militants attack Somali parliament
Updated | By Catrine Malan
A Somali police captain says a car bomb exploded outside parliament and security forces killed other militants in a largely foiled attack.

Capt. Mohamed Hussein said one soldier was killed while trying to prevent a suicide bomber on foot from trying to enter parliament on Saturday.
Hussein said security forces shot and killed four men. The two other attackers who died were the driver of the car bomb and the bomber on foot.
The al-Shabab militant group had carried out several such complex attacks in Mogadishu. The group was booted out of the capital in 2011 but still controls wide areas of southern Somalia.
