"They are not involved in adult matters. There should be no violence, no singing in front of their schools. We are appealing to everybody to step off."

Motshekga has reiterated her call to protestors to go to court if they are dissatisfied.

The protesters are unhappy with the ruling by the High Court in Pretoria that the Afrikaans medium high school does not have the capacity to admit 55 English-speaking pupils.

"We came here to reassure the school that we believe that it's unfortunate that a matter that belongs in court is brought to school. I spoke to the secretary of the ANC in province to say I find it extremely unacceptable that if there is a court decision, all of us, are obliged to respect the rule of law. It is as simple as that."

Scores of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), African National Congress (ANC) and South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) members embarked on the four-day protest action.

They claim that the protest action will only conclude if the school does away with its "white supremacy" policies.

"There is a process that is quite clear; they are unhappy about the court decision then they must be friends to the court. They must not bring the battle to the school," insists Motshekga.

At least 30 people have been arrested for public violence.
