Mooikloof outage: Power restored in 'next few days’
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
The City of Tshwane says technical teams are working around the clock to repair the damage caused by a fire at the Mooikloof substation, east of the city.

The blaze, caused by an explosion at the station on Wednesday, destroyed a transformer and distribution panels.
It has left large parts of Pretoria East without power.
Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said power will be restored in the next few days.
“Installation of panels is done, busbar as well as buswiring is at 60% towards completion. Pressure testing of transformers and transformer cables has been completed. Installation of control cables is ongoing.
“Measuring of the network is also ongoing, our artisans are conducting tests. The city envisages that power will be restored within the next few days."
Tshwane MMC for Utilities and Regional Operations Themba Fosi attributed the explosion to a fault on one of the 11kV power lines outside the substation.
