The Independent Police Investigative Directorate is investigating a case of murder after a Mpumalanga police officer shot and killed his wife and her two siblings on Saturday.
IPID spokesperson Robbie Raburabu says the three were shot and killed following a family dispute.
He says the 37-year-old constable was stationed at the Masoyi Police Station.
“The family were meeting following a dispute between the suspect constable and his wife. When things did not go the suspect’s way he decided to go fetch his service pistol and fatally shot the three family members, including his wife.”
Raburabu says the suspect was arrested at the scene.
“IPID investigators were summoned to the crime scene at Kamajika Trust near Sabie Sand in Mpumalanga. The suspect was arrested on the scene and detained. He is appearing in the Kabokweni magistrates court on Tuesday to face three counts of murder.”
