Mpumalanga school badly hit by storm

A storm has caused severe damage to a Mpumalanga school.

Two classrooms at the Pro Gratia Learning Centre in Mbombela have been battered in the storm on Wednesday.

 

Pro Gratia Learning Centre principal, Andri Bester, says one classroom was completely blown away.

“It was a very bad storm. The wind blew away one of our classrooms. It completely collapsed,” Bester says.



Pro Gratia Learning Centre is a school for children with special educational needs. 



The spokesperson for the Mpumalanga department of co-operative governance and traditional affairs, George Mthethwa, says it has not been made aware of any damage as a result of the storm.

It said isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga on Tuesday afternoon.
