The case against a security guard who allegedly shot and killed a municipal worker in Middelburg has been postponed to 30 August.
Nqubeko Mchunu appeared in the Middelburg Magistrate's Court in Mpumalanga on Friday.
The 41-year-old suspect is accused of shooting at workers during a march at the Steve Tshwete Municipality on Wednesday.
A second person who was shot during the protest succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
It is understood that the employees were forcing their way inside the municipal buildings when a scuffle broke out.
Workers have been protesting over salary and benefits issues since last week.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala says the accused has been remanded in custody.
Calm has been restored in the CBD although some streets remain barricaded with debris.
