Nanny nabbed for murder of 1-year-old

A woman who had been caring for a 1-year-old baby has been arrested for murder in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni.
Gauteng police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters says the 51-year-old suspect initially reported she and the baby were force-fed poison.
"Initially the nanny had reported that the house had been burgled and there were robbers who force-fed her with poison and also gave the poison to the child and she was rushed to hospital.

"As police were conducting preliminary investigations it came out that she was a possible suspect".
She was subsequently arrested on Friday.
Peters says the suspect appeared Benoni Magistrates Court on Monday on charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.
She is expected to make a second appearance on October 28.
