New Eskom board meets with Ramaphosa

Eskom's newly constituted board met with Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa ahead of their first day at the power utility.

It is the first day in office for the newly appointed thirteen-member board.
Ramaphosa announced changes to the power utility's board on Saturday, recommending the appointment of Phakamani Hadebe as acting group CEO.
The board will be chaired by Jabu Mabuza.

Ramaphosa believes the new board will bring stability to the troubled energy parastatal.
Eskom's Khulu Phasiwe confirmed that former CEO Matshela Koko and CFO Anoj Singh have been fired with immediate effect.
Phasiwe says the board met with Ramaphosa.
"I'm sure during the course of the day they will be coming through so that they can get a sense of the issues that are facing the company and also to be briefed by senior management about the measures that has been put in place."

Phasiwe says he's aware that some of the board members will be joining Ramaphosa in Davos for the World Economic Forum.
The board's first order of business is to appoint Eskom executives.
