DA: Eskom board has a mammoth task ahead
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
The Democratic Alliance (DA) says the new Eskom board, led by the chairperson of the Telkom Board, Jabu Mabuza, has a huge task ahead.

The DA's Natasha Mazzone says the power utility needs a turnaround.
"Due to years of chronic mismanagement and the toxic influence of the Gupta family, Eskom is facing financial and operational collapse. This entity has been at the centre of state capture and the board will have to hit the ground running to ensure Eskom is once again operating efficiently," Mazzone says.
She says there are key areas of concern that need to be the main focus.
"The board needs to appoint qualified and experienced individuals in all senior positions, investigate any suspicious contracts and individuals who have been involved in questionable deals, including senior executives and former board members, prioritise Eskom's financial stability and attract more investment and recover all the money that has been syphoned from the power utility," says Mazzone.
She says these are the immediate actions that need to be taken which will re-establish good governance and restore the public's faith in Eskom.
