No-confidence motion in Ekurhuleni set for Thursday
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
Ekurhuleni Mayor Sivuyile Ngodwana is set to face a motion of no confidence before the end of the week.
Last week, ActionSA submitted a motion against Ngodwana, accusing him of poor performance.
The motion comes amid a row over the auditor-general’s report into the city’s finances, with council members accusing the mayor and MMC of Finance Nkululeko Dunga of hiding the report.
The no-confidence motion is set to be heard on Thursday.
“Under Ngodwana’s leadership, we have witnessed the city’s finances deteriorate, service delivery grind to a halt, a waste crisis which continues to plague communities, the mayor ignoring and failing to implement council resolutions on hijacked buildings which continue to pose a health and safety risk for unsuspecting residents,” explained ActionSA’s caucus leader Siyanda Makhubo.
“ActionSA is very confident that all like-minded political parties will vote positively to remove this ANC-EFF unholy alliance and get the City of Ekurhuleni back to work.”
