No-confidence motions in Phalatse, Joburg speaker to be discussed on Monday

ActionSA has tabled a motion of no confidence against the speaker for the Johannesburg city council Colleen Makhubele.
The party says Makhubele, who is a Congress of the People council, should be shown the door due to the fact that she presided over two illegal council meetings.
The High Court declared illegal both the first meeting, called to table a motion of no confidence against Mayor Mpho Phalatse, and the one where the ANC’s Dada Morero was elected as her successor.
ActionSA's Gauteng leader Bongani Baloyi says Makhubele did not follow the correct procedures.
“Action SA has tabled a vote of no confidence in the speaker of Johannesburg as a result of mismanagement of council and wrong processes being followed, leading to elect the mayor out of office.”
The council’s programming committee will meet on Monday to discuss the motions of no confident against both the speaker and mayor.
Baloyi says he has no expectations.
“I’ll leave it to them; I do not have any expectation. The programming committee must apply their minds and make a determination.
“Our only concern is procedures being executed correctly.”
