NPA drops charges against former Mpumalanga MEC Mandla Msibi

The National Prosecuting Authority has provisionally withdrawn criminal charges against former Mpumalanga Agriculture MEC Mandla Msibi.
Msibi and his five co-accused appeared in the High Court in Mbombela on Monday.
The Msibi faces two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder for his alleged involvement in a shooting incident in Mbombela in August 2021.
NPA regional Spokesperson Monica Nyuswa says the charges are provisionally withdrawn due to some "outstanding information".
"We felt that it would not be in the interest of justice to proceed with the trial, once all the outstanding information has been finalised and brought to the attention of the prosecution; the matter will be reinstated. At this stage, the charges against the former MEC have been provisionally withdrawn."
Msibi, who is the ANC’s provincial treasurer, backed down from party activities last year due to the party's step-aside resolution.
