The High Court in Johannesburg has postponed the murder trial of
Sandile Mantsoe.
Mantsoe is standing trial for murder of his girlfriend Karabo Mokoena.
The state says new developments emerged during its consultations with witnesses, and the trial is now set to begin on March 19.READ MORE: Karabo Mokoena's family relieved her alleged killer will remain behind bars
Mokoena's burnt body was found in a veld in Lyndhurst in April last year after
her family and friends reported her missing.
In an affidavit presented to the court for bail application last year, Mantsoe
alleged that Mokoena was suicidal and he found her deceased inside his Sandton
apartment. Mantosoe claims he disposed of the body out of fear.
But police claim Mantsoe confessed to murdering Mokeona as part of a ritual
which would allow his business to prosper.
The state says it will call 20 witnesses and argue that it was Mantsoe’s intent
to kill Mokoena.
Mantsoe will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
