Updated | By Makhosazane Twala
Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana says nine out of 26 priorities of Operation Vulindlela have been achieved so far, while 11 are progressing well.
Godongwana and Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele launched Operation Vulindlela’s second-quarter report on Friday.
Operation Vulindlela is a joint initiative of the Presidency and the National Treasury aimed at fast-tracking the delivery of structural economic growth.
Gungubele said Operation Vulindlela will oversee and coordinate support to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s energy crisis plan.
“National Energy Crisis Committee has been established to oversee the energy crisis plan and implementation of additional measures to address electricity shortage.”
Godongwana admitted some significant problems remain in the transport sector.
“In transport, there have been significant challenges with both the ports and rail infrastructure as a result of security issues inadequate investment in equipment and procurement processes that were attended by state capture.”
