Oscar Pistorius: Day One in pictures
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The world's media gathered at the High Court in Pretoria where arguments are heard ahead of Oscar Pistorius' sentencing for murder.
Pistorius was initially found guilty of culpable homicide for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day 2013, but this was overturned in the Supreme Court of Appeal and he was found guilty of murder.
Day of of the sentencing proceeding concluded with the first of the defence's witnesses testifying on Pistorius' mental state.
Professor Jonathan Scholtz, a psychologist, made the case for Pistorius to be hospitalised rather than imprisoned.
The Steenkamp family left the court in a hurry, refusing to speak to the media. It's anticipated that Barry Steenkamp could take the stand later this week.
Arnold Pistorius, Oscar's uncle, was at court. Last week he revealed that an exclusive deal has been struck with ITV. Oscar will then - for the first time - tell his story to a media house.
Armold Pistorius said an agreement was reached to broadcast the interview after this week's court proceedings.
