Over 50 teachers implicated in matric exam cheating scandal
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga says more than 800 matriculants have not received their exam results due to cheating.
Motshekga was speaking during a media briefing in Pretoria on Sunday morning.
“There are six schools affected in the Eastern Cape, which involves 864 candidates. The results of these candidates have been withheld following the discovery of cheating in form of group copying and 57 educators were implicated in the teaching.
“Investigations reveal that learners were assisted and some of the teachers have already confessed to helping the learners during the exams. Those teachers have been referred to labour relations process for disciplinary action," added Motshekga.
