Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts lashed out at SANRAL for not supplying them with the necessary information.

Chairman of the committee, Themba Godi says they want answers before parliament adjourns for the December holidays.

In a statement the committee said that they stipulated all the information required from SARNAL in the invitation letter sent to the agency.

"The Committee is shocked at the apparent lack of preparation displayed by SANRAL. The agency's presentation was vague, with no specific information, and the Chairperson of the board and the management of SANRAL could not give answers to the questions asked by members of the Committee."

The Committee has also requested that SANRAL provide details of who is responsible for the irregular expenditure of R1.1 billion.

"We want to know if whether that amount has been recovered," the committee says.
