Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
City Power says large parts of Lenasia south have been plunged into darkness after the local substation caught alight.
The power utility company’s spokesperson Isaac Mangena says technicians and firefighters have been displaced after the substation caught alight on Friday morning.
Investigations into the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are underway.
No estimated time of restoration has been conveyed.
Several areas have been affected after various other substations had to be isolated to minimalize the impact of the blaze.
"This affects the power supply to other substations up streams including Lunar, Hopefield, and Ennerdale substations which were isolated as a result. We will update customers on the recovery and restoration plans later.”
