This follows the Constitutional Court judgment which dismissed Ramaphosa’s application for direct access to the apex court.

The independent panel, set up by Parliament, found prima facie evidence that Ramaphosa had violated his oath of office during and following the robbery at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo in February 2020.

Magwenya said the ruling is not a blow to the president.

"The judgment deals with procedural matter, with respect to the president seeking direct access to the Constitutional Court, it does not pronounce on the merits of the case. It says there is no case of the ConCourt to be petitioned directly.

"This is not a blow to the president. The legal team will convene and map a way forward and consider options going forward.

"Our view is that he was correct in doing so, because the matter concerned a report that was ceased with the conduct of the president and our view was that the Constitutional Court was the right court to hear the matter."
