In a statement released by Oscar's brother Carl, on behalf of the Pistorius family, the family says the film was made with no regard towards both the Pistorius and Steenkamp families.

"The 'film' was made with blatant disregard of both the Steenkamp and Pistorius families, as well as complete disregard for Reeva and Oscar. Neither Oscar, the defence or the family were involved in the production of the 'film' in any way," Carl says.

He says the movie is not a true reflection of what happened.

"The 'film' is a gross misrepresentation of the truth."

Lifetime made the film which is expected to premiere in the US in November.

The movie stars Andreas Damm as Pistorius and Toni Garrn as Steenkamp.
