Police arrest 15 more people linked to University of Fort Hare investigation

Police have arrested 15 more suspects who are reportedly connected to the University of Fort Hare murder and attempted murder case.
Last year, Richard Vesele, the bodyguard of the university’s vice-chancellor and a secodn bodyguard were killed.
The 15 accused were arrested in various parts of the country including Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape over the Easter weekend on charges of fraud, corruption, kidnapping, murder and attempted murder.
"They are expected to make their first court appearance on Tuesday, 02 April 2024 at the Dimbaza Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape.
The National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola says the task team will continue to do their work without fear or favour" says police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe
"The Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele and the National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola are expected to attend court proceedings on Tuesday," she added.
The number of accused in this case has now increased to 25.
