Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Police have made yet another massive drug bust, with cocaine with a street value of R65 million seized in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape.
The consignment was seized by police at the city’s port on Thursday.
The consignment was discovered on a vessel that had entered the country from Brazil.
"Members of the Gqerberha Sea Port were following up on intelligence when they intercepted the vessel as it was docking on Thursday and found 35 blocks of cocaine that were compressed in blocks," said police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe
"No arrests have been made thus far, and police are investigating a case of trafficking of drugs. This is the police’s third ‘massive’ drug bust in a space of three weeks."
Last month, police made two drug busts in KwaZulu-Natal, where cocaine worth R150 million was confiscated.
