Police officer questioned over OR Tambo heist
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
A police officer is being questioned in connection with the heist at OR Tambo International Airport.
Acting national police commissioner Khomotso Phahlane says the investigation into the heist points to an inside job.
Phahlane briefed the media this evening following last week's heist.
Four people have been taken in for questioning, he confirms.
"Two appeared in the Kempton Magistrate's Court today. The other two, include a police officer. This confirms our version of not ruling out collusion and or an inside job," Phahlane says.
"If we find that any of our members had a role to play, we will take decisive action."
He says further arrests are likely.
A total of 27 parcels of foreign currency were stolen after a group of armed suspects travelling in a bogus police vehicle gained access to a restricted section of the airport.
They fled with 27 parcels of foreign currency which was destined for an SAA flight.
No money has been recovered so far.
