Police searching for suspected serial rapist in Mamelodi
Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
Gauteng police are hunting for a suspected serial rapist in Mamelodi, east of Pretoria.
The man, who is in his 30’s, has been linked to at least four counts of rape in the area since November 2018.
Police have intensified the search for the man by releasing an identikit in the hope that members of the community could help in apprehending the suspect.
The release of the identikit follows a break-in at a house in Nelmapius earlier this week, during which a woman was raped.
Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubele says the suspect targets women and children.
“He looks to enter houses where there are no men and he rapes the women and we understand that he looks at houses that only have children where he enters and terrorizes them."
“He is a person who is not to be apprehended by anyone, we are looking for him so that he can stop these activities around the area of Mamelodi.”
